Tough week

Taffs Well finished a hard week with the players energy levels very low after three games in seven days ,but they also showed great determination to finish on a high. Sundays bowl final at the principality stadium turned out to be a disappointing end to a very good day ,with  great support from the village ,and local bus company Ferris Holidays , Taffs Well led Burry Port until the final 5 minutes ,leading 18 -13 ,when the opposition  scored their second try  ,with the conversion,  to give them a 20--18 victory. This was followed by a 50-26 win at Caerau Ely on Wednesday ,with the side scoring eight tries to claim the bonus point, ,Ronan Barrett ,already the leading try scorer , crossed for three tries to give him 28 tries for the season, there was also a first try of the season for second row Tommy Guy,as well as two for player coach Gavin Close, and one each for Ryan Smith and Justin Jones, while fullback Shaun Baggs kicked five  conversions.  On Saturday the trip to Penygraig proved to be hard on the players as the battled to maintain their unbeaten league record, but they  managed to build up a 19-0 half time lead thanks to tries from James Dixon (2) and Gavin Close ,with two conversions from Shaun Baggs  . The home side stormed back after the break with two converted tries of their own , and as they mounted a final assault to try and catch Taffs Well   ,a touch  of class from scrum half Garyn Lucas resulted in a fine solo try which gave his side a 24 --14 win ,and the all important bonus point . With so many games being played the injury list has started to grow , but young players like Lewys Jones ,and Ryan Smith have stepped up to play a major part in the sides continued success.
