Rock Up for the Big One! Caerphilly RFC v Taff's Well RFC - WRU Bowl Quarter Final

If you don't think that this will be a biggie, then take a look at this article from the Caerphilly Observer  http://bit.ly/2l8Mn1v

Caerphilly has gone WRU Quarter-Final crazy and is calling for support from all over the Rhymney Valley which has a population of over 60,00 as compared to the 3,000 good folk of Taff's Well - David v Goliath? Quite probably but we know what happened last year when the lads defied all the odds to battle all the way to a heart-breaking loss in the final by just 2 points.

How do we Stack Up?

Caerphilly have featured in two recent cup finals, the European Shield Final 2003 (losing to French team Castres Olympique) & the Welsh Cup Final in 2004 (losing to Neath RFC) but aside from Taff's Well supplying 6 x Welsh internationals, 3 x Welsh Captains and 3 x British Lions over its great history - our secret weapon last year was the level of support that followed Taff's Well through the qualyfying rounds all the way to the televised final producing some fantastic wins playing some great rugby in the process.

Can our boys do it?

The last few months have seen Taff's Well suffer from many injuries and unavailabilities but the squad has been building nicely over the last few weeks with a few new signings and hopefully a full complement for Axel to pick from from for this massive derby match and the prospect of being just one game away from another Principality Stadium final which would have been simply unthinkable just two years ago.

How Can We Do It?

Simple - with the same never say die attitude and the continued support that took us all the way last season which will be crucial against an excellent Caerphilly side playing in front of a huge and fervent home crowd. These are the type of games that not only bring out the gladiator in the players but they also serve to stir the emotions of the spectator like no other sporting contest as friends, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, grandparents and ex-players from both sides feel every bone-crunching tackle as if they were biting the turf themselves.

How can you help?

Get there - That's how! All roads will be leading to the Constructaquote Stadium in Virginia Park for the 2.30pm KO with its huge stand, giant TV screen, pyrotechnic fireworks and a local crowd banking on a home win. For those who like a fry-up, meet up at The Malcolm Uphill (Wetherspoons - Top of town) @ around 11.00am followed by a gentle pre-match amble through Caerphilly getting the tonsils lubrucated ready to shout the boys home.
