After two weeks of frustration when both league games were cancelled it was good news on Saturday as Tonyrefail visited Maes Gwyn . Taffs well started with a bang crossing for four tries in the first 20 minutes to earn the bonus point and were always in control despite conceding two tries early in the second half . Taffs Well came back strong after this to finish with an eight try haul.Taffs Well man of the match fullback Chris Burgwyn scored a try as did Ronan Barrett, Mathew Wright, Lewys Edwards and two each for Garyn Lucas and Gavin Close .Gavin also slotted over two conversions with Jamie Field also adding two .Head coach Axel Rees was delighted to get a win under his belt against a good Tonyrefail side but said alot of work is needed over the next two weeks before they travel away to Tylorstown who currently lead Central 3B.
There was also good news from the 2xv who beat Pontyclun in the East district cup .Lawrence Staniforth was is good form bagging a brace of tries , in the 33--12 win. There was one each for Ben Atkin and Craig Field who also put over three conversions and two penalty goals. Two outstanding club servants John Davies ,and Denver Knight with a combined age 93 were outstanding as they turned back the years . This Saturday Taffs Well play host to an under 16 rugby league international between Wales and England while the first XV visit Tongwynlais in the Swalec bowl , the 2nd XV team are away to Barry in the league .
