It was another frustrating weekend for rugby clubs as the bad weather once again played havoc with the fixtures, Taffs Well were no exception their game away to Tonyrefail was postponed . Taffs Well 2xv thought they had beaten the elements when Canton r.f.c. told them their game was still on,but after traveling to the Cardiff club ,the referee deemed it to dangerous so it was called off . Most of the players returned to the clubhouse ,and they were joined by a big contingent of players from Dowlais rugby club ,who had called in on their way back from Barry ,after their game was also postponed. This Saturday both senior teams are involved with cup competitions, the first team traveling to Fairwater for their fourth round Swalec bowl tie ,while the seconds entertain Rumney in the quarter final of the Worthington east district 2xv cup with a 2.00 pm kick off. A good run in any competition is always welcome , with the final of the bowl being played at the Principality Stadium there is an extra incentive to do well , but the players and coaches will have one eye on the following Saturday when promotion rivals Tylorstown are the visitors to Maes Gwyn, and although Taffs Well beat the tigers away ,the game will be a big challenge for the side. There is also a players reunion on the same days ,with lots on ex players expected to attend. Club chairman Mike Gibbons issued an invitation to any past players to come along and enjoy a drink with some of their old team mates . Mike Gibbons
