Saturday 24th August will see a rare gathering of legendary former Taff’s Well players and captains who will be there to witness the ashes of the late and great Garth Williams strewn over the hallowed turf of his former club. Garth himself was a former club captain and life-member leaving these shores in 1974. Twenty of his family will be travelling over 10,000 miles from Adelaide to hear tales of how the former wing-forward and club Captain fuelled stories that the Garth mountain was named after him. In his book 'A View from the Garth - 100 Years of Taff's Well Rugby - Peter Thomas humorously tagged the attached photo as 'The Unacceptable Face of Welsh Rugby.
One of the most popular players of his generation and anyone who remembers Garth is invited along to meet his wife Jenny, eldest son Lloyd and the rest of his family. It’s going to be some occasion.
