Future Taff's host touring Syston RFC

The future of Taff's Well rugby, the U15's, played out an entertaining match in front of a busy Maes Gwyn under friday night lights, but ended up beaten by strong touring Syston RFC, 26-7.

Syston RFC of Leicester, travelling on a weekend tour of South Wales, travelled to Maes Gwyn in high spirits. They would have been forgiven for travelling with some trepidation however, as a week of poor South Wales weather was threatening to cancel the weekend's fixtures. Thanks once again to the excellent work of the Taff's Well groundstaff however, Maes Gwyn pitch withstood the weather and the game went ahead.

And a good job too, as both sets of players took to the field under the Friday night lights ready to play some running rugby. The standard of rugby was high- credit to both teams and coaches for giving the game a good go. In the end, Syston's superior structured play and strong open field running proved too strong for Taff's, who ended up defeated 26-7. The crowd- both home and large away contingent- were left thoroughly entertained.

Another great night of rugby at Maes Gwyn, big thank you to Syston RFC for making the trip down and a return trip to Leicester is certainly on the cards! A big thank you to all Taff's volunteers for making this happen, in particular to Cameron Winterton, a Syston old boy and current Taff's First XV squad member and coach, and his partner-in-crime Ed Armstrong, for arranging and sorting the fixture.

The future is bright! #UptheWell
