It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our former player and great friend, Mike 'Jed' Bonetto, on Friday 8th December at the age of 66.
Mike played over 500 games for Taff’s Well RFC and captained the 1st XV for three separate seasons during his rugby career. He played at hooker and always led by example.
Mike was a huge character and entertained us all with his great sense of humour. Who will ever forget him singing his party piece, ‘Lady in Red’ karaoke style. In recent years Mike enjoyed playing bowls for Taff’s Well Bowls Club with his brother Lawrence and many of his former rugby team mates. He will be truly missed by his close friends at the club and all who knew him.
Our deepest condolences and thoughts go to his beloved wife Cheryl, son Anthony, daughter Rachel, daughter-in-law Lucy and son-in-law Scott and his grandchildren Ella-Mai, Maxwell, Iestyn, Ralphy, Stanley and Madeleine. Our thoughts are also with his brothers and sisters, Lawrence, Yvonne, Diane, Wendy, Nigel and Janice.
Mike’s funeral will take place on Thursday 28th December at 2pm at Thornhill Crematorium.
Cheryl, Anthony, Rachel and the family would like to invite everyone who is able to join them afterwards to enjoy refreshments and friendship at Taff’s Well RFC.
A minute’s silence will be held at the next 1st XV home game at Taff’s Well RFC against Treharris on Saturday 30th December.
